How to keep skin healthy
Is there a correct way to take a shower? Yes. Here are some simple tips that will help you come out of the shower with soft, smooth healthy skin:
Check the water temperature
Before you step into the shower, make sure that the water temperature is suitable. A lukewarm temperature is ideal, as water that is too hot can strip away the good oils from your skin leaving it dry and sensitive.
Avoid using accessories that can harbour germs
You probably don’t spend much time thinking about your sponge. But did you know that your sponge can harbour germs that can transfer to your skin? Try using your hands and favourite shower gel. This is a gentle and effective way to keep your skin clean. If you’re not ready to let go of your sponge or loofah, consider changing it at least once a month. A washcloth is a good alternative too, just remember to wash it regularly.
Wash your face in the sink
Many dermatologists advise against washing your face in the shower. Why? Washing your face with water at different temperatures can have positive effects. Begin to spread the cleansing product on the skin with warm water, which helps to open the pores of the skin allowing the product to penetrate deeply. After massaging the cleanser, wipe it off with cold water to close pores and prevent germs from entering.
Gently exfoliate once or twice a week
You’ve probably heard about the benefits of exfoliating your face. But what about exfoliating your body? Well, adding this step to your shower routine can leave your skin feeling smoother and looking hydrated. It helps remove dead skin cells and reduces skin congestion. Remember to always be gentle with your skin and avoid over exfoliating.
